Went down to Indian Hammocks Park in Kendall, FL with Shaun and Kriston, where we played a round each at each course before the rains got too heavy to play anymore there. Drove up to Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, FL, where we played three more rounds. I banged solid chains on hole 16 over the water, but unfortunately, it popped out.

I just got back from my biggest disc golf trip. It covered 5 states (Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida), with the main focus of the trip in western Georgia, eastern Tennessee, and western North Carolina. The whole trip was 17 days long, and I drove over 4,000 miles. I played golf for 12 of those days, in which I played 63 rounds on 55 different courses (34 of which I’ve never played before). That makes my total number of courses played at 321. I also took 6 days off from golfing to hang out with a good friend, in which we did, among other things, a hot air balloon ride, and a drive up to the tallest mountain east of the Rockies.

I leave for my Asheville, North Carolina trip. The idea for this trip came about a couple years ago, when I thought about playing the courses in and around Asheville, NC. I planned to do the trip last year at this time. But after going over all the courses I was hoping to play, I realized that 5 days would not be long enough to pull this off. Plus, my right shoulder was really bothering me, and I didn’t think it could stand playing too much disc golf. So, I decided to put it off til 2007. I mentioned the idea of this trip to a really good friend, and she said she could meet me in Asheville, where we could stay at her timeshare. So I started making plans to do this trip this year, and make it a 2-week vacation. And I’m really glad I waited. I started taking medicine for my shoulder (turns out it’s arthritis), and now it feels great. Also, between last year and now, another 15 courses opened up within the areas I planned on going to. Matter of fact, I added a few more days to the trip just to accommodate all the new courses popping up.
